If results are of utmost importance to you too, arrangements can be made for your hotel, transportation and post-operative care needs.

If you are located outside greater Washington D.C., plastic surgery options with Dr. Mausner are endless. For our out of town guests our office can arrange a number of private concierge services, such as limousine service to and from the airport, luxurious recovery accommodations through our association with local hotels, and skilled post-operative care provided by a trained nursing staff.

Our patient liaison specialist will do everything to accommodate all your travel and care needs. Just ask!

1. How to get started
Call the office and tell the receptionist that you are an out-of-out patient interested in scheduling surgery with Dr. Mausner. She will take your specific information down and mail you a Welcome Packet with vital information and forms for you to complete in order to make your visit and surgery an easy process.

Greater Washington D.C. plastic surgery patients have the opportunity to consult with Dr. Mausner several weeks in advance of surgery. Since that may not be possible, the next best way is to let Dr. Mausner view your areas of concern by way of photographs. These can be sent by regular mail (marked CONFIDENTIAL) or e-mailed (in jpeg format) to: tucknlift@aol.com. Make sure the photos are clear and close-up if possible.

If you opt to mail your photos, please send them to our office along with the Patient Information forms you have received from the Receptionist. This will help speed up the intake process.

2. Pick your surgery date
Out-of-town patients should select surgery days on a Wednesday or Friday. This allows you time to come in the day before surgery and have a “pre-operative” visit with Dr. Mausner. Select a date that will allow you adequate time to heal and to travel. We urge you to discuss these specifics with our plastic surgery staff Patient Liaison, Karen.

3. Surgical fees
Once Dr. Mausner has reviewed your photos and discussed it with you, he will determine the fees for your surgery. Our Patient Liaison will send you a Surgical Cost Analysis which will provide you with the Doctor’s fee, the Hospital and Anesthesia fees and other possible ancillary fees. Some of these fees may be covered by your insurance plan.

A 10% deposit (of  Dr. Mausner’s fee only) is required to hold the surgery date. This can be done over the telephone with a credit card (MasterCard, VISA or Discover). The balance of Dr. Mausner’s fee is due 3 weeks before your surgery date. A cashiers check can be mailed or a credit card can be used to complete the payment. The fees for the Hospital and Anesthesiologist (if not covered by your insurance) are paid the morning of surgery.

Other plastic surgery financing options are available. Please feel free to ask out Patient Liaison for more details.

4. Transportation
Dr. Mausner’s office and Suburban Hospital are close to 3 major airports:
DCA — REGAN NATIONAL (@ 30 -40 min.)
BWI — Baltimore/Washington Intl. (@45-55 min.)
IAD — Dulles Airport, VA (@ 40-45 min.)

It is recommended that you rent a car for the few days you are in town. Though there are Metro (Subway) stops and Taxi services available, a car is more comfortable and convenient to transport the patient and run errands if necessary, like securing food and prescription drugs that may be needed after the surgery.

5. Hotels
Selecting a hotel that will provide the comfort you need after surgery is most important.  After surgery, you will receive care in the Recovery Room of the hospital until Dr. Mausner and the hospital staff feel you are ready to leave.  Though there are numerous hotels and motels in the area, we recommend you select a “suite” if possible or a room that has a small refrigerator, microwave and separate beds for the patient and the care giver.

We Recommend:
Marriott Suites Hotel  (Bethesda, MD)
Marriott Pooks Hill Hotel (Bethesda, MD)
Marriott North Bethesda  (Rockville, MD)
Hyatt Bethesda  (Bethesda, MD)

6. Post-operative Care
Wherever you stay, you cannot stay alone. You will be provided with specific instructions both for before and after surgery well in advance of the surgery day. It is important that someone be with you for the first 24-48 hours after the surgery.

You should plan ahead to have sufficient food and drinks in the room for you to eat after surgery to maintain your health and avoid becoming dehydrated. As a courtesy to you, Dr. Mausner will make a “house call” to see you the following morning before you leave town.

If you do not have someone to stay with you, you can call: Potomac Home Care Support (301-896-6990) and arrange for a home care/nurse assistant to pick you up and care for you.

7. Returning Home
Healing from surgery continues for up to 1 year.  Please keep in touch with the office if you have any questions. Re-read your Post-op instructions for additional information as to what activities you can add at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, etc.

8. Keep in touch
And whenever you are back in the greater Washington D.C. area, please come visit us for a follow-up visit.

9. Refer a friend
